Dunmore CaveBallyfoyle, Co. Kilkenny
Consisting of a series of chambers formed over millions of years the cave contains some of the finest calcite formations found in any Irish cave. The cave has been mentioned in ancient Irish Annals and poetry and was the scene of a Viking attack in 928 where up to 1000 people were possibly killed.
World attention focused on the cave in 1999 after the discovery of a hoard of silver treasures and artifacts never before seen anywhere else in the world. A tour to the cave will also include displays and an audio visual presentation.
Visit by guided tour only.
