The National Museum has a collection dating from 7000 BC to modern times. In 1997 the National Museum collection was split between the Kildare Street building and Collins Barracks at Arbour Hill. Kildare Street has examples of Celtic and Medieval art e.g. Ardagh Chalice and Tara Brooch. In 2001, the Country Life in Co. Mayo was opened.
