The National Museum has a collection dating from 7000 BC to modern times. In 1997 the National Museum collection was split between the Kildare Street building and Collins Barracks at Arbour Hill. Kildare Street has examples of Celtic and Medieval art e.g. Ardagh Chalice and Tara Brooch.

Folk Fiction/Castlebar’s  Men Shed/Mayo Arts Squad.

Join us for the launch of a short film that documents the collaborative project ran recently between Folk Fiction creator, Gareth Kennedy, Castlebar’s Men Shed and Mayo Arts Squad. As part of this project the team utilized IKEA furniture pieces for the construction of a carpenter’s shave horse and a great (spinning) wheel. No booking required. Demonstration. All Ages.                                                          

The Natural History Museum in Merrion Street houses an exhibition of stuffed animals. On show are large skeletons of extinct animals and fish which were native to Ireland.

Join us for a screening of a documentary by  Crossing the Lines Films, which traces the conservation and investigation of the Faddan More Psalter, an 8th century book of psalms discovered deep in a bog.Located in the Viking AV room, first floor.
