St Patrick’s Cathedral is one of the best visitor attractions in Ireland. It boasts over 800 years of fascinating history. Explore the graves of some of Ireland’s most famous dead including the writer of Gulliver’s Travels (Jonathan Swift), learn about how the expression “to chance your arm” came about in the Cathedral in 1492 or simply take a stroll around the largest Cathedral in Ireland.

Free school/ education group visits

In 2011/12 over 4000 students of every age visited the Cathedral to learn about its fascinating life and history. Schools, community and any group who are engaged in formal education can avail of our free education programme. This allows groups free entry and the option of availing of one of our education sessions (tours and workshops). Our experienced Education Department can tailor sessions to meet your groups specific needs/interests.

Tales from our Timeline

Got a smart phone? Would you like to able to learn about the Cathedral during your visit using it? In August 2012 St Patrick’s Cathedral launched a new digital learning exhibition called “Tales from our Timeline”. An enormous amount of content including videos, pictures and text was created for a new section of our website. QR codes (barcodes) have been placed around the building which link to relevant parts of our site. This means that you can walk around the Cathedral (and using our free WiFi) can watch videos or look at pictures on your phone about the life and past of this amazing building!

Monday to Friday: 09.00 to 17.00

Saturday 09.00 to 17.00 (18.00 between March and October)

Sunday 09.00 to 10.30, 12.30 to 14.30, and (16.30 to 18.00 between March and October)

Adult €5.50, OAP/Student €4.50

Family (2 adults & 2 children u 16) €15.00

Group rates (minimum of 10 persons). Adult €4.20, Student €3.70
