Young Irish Film Makers

St. Josephs Studios, Waterford Road, Co. Kilkenny

It is going to be a great year as Young Irish Film Makers are opening their doors again for their 21st year. With weekly workshops in film making, drama and introducing our new Medialab where senior members can work on after fx, web design, photoshop, music and app design.

Groups of young people will be guided through interactive workshops working with some great mentors in drama, film and media production. There is also going to be an open door policy for senior members on friday as we open the Film & Media Club where young people can come in and work on projects together in film, web, social media, digital music production and lots more. Check out the details of workshops below and register now to book your place!

Film Camps for 9 -18 year olds.

How about a summer camp with a difference this year? Have you ever dreamed of working on a film set, of making your very own movie, of shouting those famous words 'lights, camera, action!!'. Well, now is your chance.... You can make your own movie in week, meet new friends and have lots of fun too.

One week film camps are running this July and August at the Young Irish Film Makers studios in St.Joseph’s Studios, Kilkenny.
Young people will be guided through interactive workshops in all aspects of film making.  From writing the script to shooting the movie and creating their own director’s cut.  At the end of this fun filled week they will attend their very own movie premiere.  They will each receive a copy of their short film on DVD.

YIFM has been working with young people all over Ireland since 1991, and boasts past members such as Tomm Moore (Writer/Director of Oscar nominated ‘The Secret of Kells’), Luke Harris (3D animator on Avatar) and John Morton (Creative Director of Devious Theatre Company).

Dates for summer camps are July 15th - 19thth, July 29th – Aug 2nd and August 12th - 16th.  Camps run from Monday to Friday, 9am until 5pm.  With age groups ranging from 9 - 12 and 13 - 18 yrs.

There is also the National Youth Film School from July 1st - 5thThis is specifically for young people who have significant film making experience and are maybe thinking of a career in film making.   You can book your place now by visiting our web site below or calling 056-7764677.
