Come and take this unique underground tour in what was Ireland’s last working coal mine and see how coal was mined. This Energy Centre provides visitors with a unique insight into what coal mining life was like in the Arigna Valley, since its beginning in the 1700's until its closure in 1990.

Stroll through the exhibition area which traces 400 years of mining history, showcasing the working way of life in the locality. With a former miner as your tour guide, you will have the opportunity to walk through an underground coal mine and learn about the incredible lives of the miners and their families.

Situated in an area of breath taking scenery which includes The Arigna Miner’s Way Historical Trail, and various treks that include stunning looped walks within the North Roscommon region, the centre is just 11 miles from Carrick-on-Shannon. Facilities also include a Picnic Area, Free Parking, (including Coaches), Gift Shop and Coffee Shop.
The centre is open all year. Fully accessible and suitable for all ages.
