Looking to experience some of the best mountain biking in Ireland... then you have come to the right spot.
The scenery is just out of this world, with some spectacular views over the Irish Sea and Lough Tay, aka the Guinness lake.
The trail network is a looped route that starts and finishes in the same point and is also sign posted, so no map needed. Ballinastoe was one of the first trail centres built in Ireland and still holds it's on today thanks to some exciting upgrades.
Ballinastoe is located in the heart of the wild Wicklow Mountains, yet is just 45 minutes from the Dublin City centre.
The trail accesses many types of terrain from open heather moor land on the top through thicket spruce and Scots Pine on the lower section.
And if you think you recognise the views perhaps you have seen them before! This area of County Wicklow if famous for film making with some of the classics including Brave Heart, Excalibur, King Arthur and Into the West to name but a few.
Biking.ie are located right at the trail head and are always on hand for advice. If you have any questions just pop in before you start your spin.
Summer Bike Camp
We've put together an intensive '3 Day' Summer Mountain Bike Skills Camp for kids between 11 and 15 years old. There are two venues to choose from, Ballinastoe in County Wicklow or Ticknock in Dublin. Each location has over 14km of exciting purpose built mountain bike trails. Participants don't need to have a lot of mountain biking experience to join us, however they must be fully comfortable cycling. The aim of the camp is to develop your mountain biking skills and awareness in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
For your peace of mind; all of our instructors are fully qualified in the Mountain Bike Leadership Award scheme, Garda vetted and have completed the Code of Ethics in Children's Sport. Over the years we have devised action packed games which develop cycling skills in a fun and inclusive way.
